Painted on paper with mineral pigments, it represents Zhang Daqian’s iconic late splashed-color landscape style. Mountains are rendered by splashing azurite and malachite pigments, ink and heavy colors blend and permeate each other to form misty cloud effects. The rock outlines are drawn with traditional texture strokes, decorated with pine trees, mountain dwellings, pavilions and distant sailing boats. Each scroll carries inscribed poems and artist’s seals. Each painting stands independently, yet they share a unified artistic conception when displayed together. Boasting magnificent and gorgeous colors, the works combine traditional brushwork with the dazzling visual effect of splashed colors. The scrolls are mounted with antique brocade and preserved in good condition.
