Length:134cm(52.76in) Width:63cm(24.80in)This is a superb splashed-colour landscape by Zhang Daqian from the period of the Hall of Great Wind. Painted on gold paper, mineral colours of azurite and malachite are splashed and blended, merging ink and pigments against the golden ground to form rich, monumental mountains. Rocks are outlined with fine lines. A waterfall plunges down the cliff; lush trees with red foliage shelter a cottage. A scholar strolls beside the stream. Distant hills are lightly washed to create depth. The running script poem at the top flows dynamically, matching the grand composition. The heavy colours against the golden background produce a magnificent effect. Original mounting, fully embodying Zhang Daqian’s iconic splashed-colour landscape style.
