**First Time At Auction**

Late Roman Empire / Early Byzantine period, ca. 400 to 600 CE. A near-miniature mold-made pottery vessel with a raised circular base, rounded bottom section, smooth rounded shoulders with a raised and repeating geometric motif, a large thumb rest with a similar geometric design, a large fill hole with a raised rim, and a short wide-mouthed wick hole. A faded abstract palm leaf motif runs along the bottom sides of the vessel just underneath the thumb rest. Size: 2.875" L x 2" W x 1.125" H (7.3 cm x 5.1 cm x 2.9 cm).

Provenance: private Orange County, California USA collection, acquired before 2000
