All went well with this auction co.

Two lots purchased and payment promptly dispatched. Payment was acknowledged received by auction house. Items were bought on Dec. 12. It is Dec. 31 and I have no idea where my items are. Purchasers are dependent on the auction house and shippers to communicate directly. I have no redress (i. e. credit card) because the auction house was paid by check. Message machine at auction house answers the phone but does not allow one to leave a message. This may be a sham operation. (I purchased another item on Dec. 21, (9 days later) it's already on it's way here and should arrive within days.)

I got a serious problem with this buying experience. The photo in the listing is not taken under normal illumination conditions. Yesterday (Dec. 28, 2015) I received new photos from the auction house, which were taken under normal light, and the colors of the lot (an amber necklace) is SIGNIFICANTLY different from how it looks in the listing photo. This morning I found they opened a dispute.

My only concern was that item I purchased sold to me for a hammer price of $400 after a very fast flurry of bids. When I looked onInvaluable.com at my item I saw that it was listed there as selling for $325. The bid history on Invaluable showed a floor bidder winning the piece for $325 and a bid of $350 having been cancelled. Naturally I wondered whether Quinn's had inadvertently taken a nonexistent bid from Invaluable and used against me on liveauctioneers. I did ask Quinn's and they only told me the selling price was $400 and that's that.

Shipping wasn't an issue since the item was a personal pickup. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

the auction should strongly advise customers to get more than one bid on shipping. I received one bid that was much, much higher than the one I used. The one I used did an excellent job of packing and shipping for the much lower price.

The alerts don't seem to be very accurate, maybe 1 out of 10 apply. I have asked about bidding concerns with your office in NY and get blown off. It seems that the auction house bids up to your max bid, I have never won at a low bid. Seems rigged. Seeing how your auction houses know my max bids and take advantage of that fact.
