My only complaint is that they were not cleaned up before being put up for auction. I know that most ANTIQUES should not be cleaned BUT a gun that is over 100 years old SHOULD BE CLEANED. If for no other reason, it will function properly. Only one of the two had a cylinder that would revolve when I received it and neither one had the barrel cleaned. While it was not an enormous undertaking, it should have been done by the seller prior to offering them for auction.

I would purchase from these folks again!

VERY EASY TO DEAL WITH

This is a great family auction house and I had a fine experience except one of the paintings I purchased was described as having a Newcomb-Macklin frame but it does not actually appear to be made by that frame maker. The photos did not show the back of the frame which would have provided information on whether it was Newcomb-Macklin. Also, the photos did not show the side of the frame which has several scratches and patches of paint loss which need a little restoration work. If more accurate information had been provided, the auction price would have likely been lower for the painting given that it was listed as having a Newcomb-Macklin frame. The other painting I purchased was great! Also, it was a great value for what I received. Also, I found the auction house to be a great place. The people were extremely nice and extremely helpful. I think it is a wonderful family business. The only problem I had was the listing of the Newcomb-Macklin frame when there is no evidence that the frame was made by Newcomb-Macklin. I called before the auction to ask about the Newcomb-Macklin frame and the person who I talked to said that he was not sure that it was, but they never changed the description to indicate that uncertainty. Ultimately, I think it increased the bidding on the painting so that my price was a little higher than it would have been with a more accurate description. However, I still think this is a very nice auction house.
