Frankfort Arsenal converted an estimated 20,000 Model 1816 muskets using Maynard tape prime locks provided by Remington Arms of Ilion NY from 1856-59.Lock is marked "REMINGTON LLION 1858. Walnut stock with 3 barrel retaining bands and loading rod. 2 visible but not discernible cartouches on stock. CONDITION, Good, Metal has a dark brown patina with scattered degrees of pitting. The main spring is strong, but the action will not stay cocked. The stock has a repair under the lock, and the has been stretched from the rear barrel band to the front barrel band. The bore is dark and frosted. ANTIQUE.
