
Description
(1901-1947) SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer, twice commandant of Auschwitz where he tested and perfected the processes of gassing and cremation. Nearly a million people were murdered with his full knowledge and approval. Hoss was hanged in 1947 following a trial in Warsaw. Rare partly-printed D.S. ‘Hoss’ 1p. 8vo., Auschwitz, July 2, 1943, a discharge of Hans Hau, an inmate in ‘preventative detention’ ('Schutzhaftling') from Mar, 16, 1943 to July 2, 1943. Significant tear at left archivally repaired on verso, weakened folds, file holes to left margin and general wear, else about very good.
