mid 19th century, 217 x 133 cm, North East Caucasus

Three hexagons with a hooked diamond at their centres and stepped outlines lie on the central axis. The dark blue field is filled with loosely arranged, small hooked diamonds, stars and animals drawn to a miniature scale. A human figure is seen at the lower left-hand side, while a rare design of four aligned and interconnected crosses appears at the opposite edge. The white main border shows a vine composed of pairs of birds aligned diagonally.

Condition

Slight signs of age and wear in the pile. Brown areas corroded. Lower finish reduced.
