Length:82cm(32.28in) Width:42cm(16.54in)This exquisite ink bamboo painting is a representative work of Dong Shouping. Slender bamboo stalks stretch diagonally across the composition, rendered with varying ink tones to convey volume and texture, with clearly defined bamboo nodes. The bamboo leaves are painted with unrestrained strokes: dark ink leaves appear solid and powerful, while pale ink leaves create an airy, distant effect. The interplay of solid and void captures the elegant movement of bamboo swaying in the breeze. An inscription on the right reads: *Painted by Dong Shouping at Yulei Cottage in the autumn of the year Yichou*, with two red artist seals. Dong Shouping earned great fame for painting bamboo and plum blossoms, known as “Master of Bamboo”. His brushwork is concise and unrestrained, infused with calligraphic spirit, embodying refined literati temperament. Original old mounting, the paper bears natural age spots, in good condition.
