Length:96cm(37.80in) Width:32cm(12.60in)This is a fine meticulous flower-and-bird painting by Yu Fei’an, depicting iris blooms and a colourful butterfly. Two irises hang down from the right side of the composition. The petals are rendered in vivid royal blue with bright yellow centres, outlined with firm and neat strokes. The long leaves stretch gracefully, layered with blue-green washes to create rich tonal variation. At the upper left hovers a red-and-black butterfly with exquisitely detailed wing patterns, seemingly about to alight, bringing harmony between motion and stillness. A long inscription in Yu Fei’an’s signature slender gold calligraphy is placed on the right, accompanied by two red artist seals below the text and one collector’s seal at the lower left. Drawing from the Song academic painting tradition, Yu Fei’an excels at meticulous line drawing and rich yet refined colour application. This work features precise brushwork and tasteful hues, capturing the lively vitality of spring blossoms. Original old mounting, paper naturally aged, well preserved.
