Length:55cm(21.65in)Width:28cm(11.02in)*Two Birds on Withered Tree*, hanging scroll, ink?on?paper, by Bada Shanren. Gnarled ancient tree trunk is rendered in concise, forceful brushwork. Two birds perch on the branch with stylized forms and aloof expressive eyes, representing the typical free?hand flower?and?bird style of Bada Shanren. Bamboos and slope?side grasses below are sketched with few strokes, creating quiet and desolate artistic conception. Signature and vermilion seals are placed in upper?left corner. The antique sprinkled?gold paper bears natural patina. Originally mounted with two?toned blue?and?white brocade, fitted with rose?wood roller ends. Full of ancient charm and refined brushwork, it is a fine bird?and?flower work in Bada Shanren’s manner, possessing high artistic and collectible value.
