Large Declaration of Independence Textile

c. 1826 Declaration of Independence Textile, Choice Very Fine.
33" x 27," printed in brown ink on linen cloth. Excellent quality, with just a couple of scattered, small holes, mostly in or near the coreners. Overall, the quality is excellent for a textile of this age. The entire text of the Declaration of Independence, plus all of the facsimile signature of the signers are surrounded by vignettes of each of the seals of the Thirteen Original Colonies plus vignettes of Washington, Jefferson, and Adams. At bottom left is a vignette of the Boston Tea Party; at right, is a vignette of General Burgoyne’s surrender at Saratoga. A fabulous piece and a type we’ve never seen before. This piece is vastly superior to the tattered piece illustrated on page 57 of "Threads of History" by Herbert Collins (and nearly as nice as the similar piece illustrated on page 72).
