VICTORIAN PAPIER MÂCHÉ CORSETED BUSTLED MANNEQUIN TORSO, stand-alone papier mâché mannequin torso or bust or use in window or store displays, neck to mid-hip, with corseted and bustled silhouette, fully hand-sculpted from brown papier mâché, black-painted exterior, covered with heavy weight dark brown silk stockinette material, marked with period inventory numbers on interior, no maker’s mark, entirely original, considered scarce. Circa 1880. Approximately 11 1/4" neck, 33" bust, corseted 23" waist, 40 1/2" corseted extended hip, 24" HOA.
Excellent condition with a 2" L indention in neck that is noticeable only upon close inspection, holes measuring about 1" or less in stockinette material and slightly loose at edge on lower end, otherwise clean, without damage or storage odor.
