I'm surprised to hear this, especially since you picked this item up in person, and no "severe damage" was noted. It would have been very easy for you to simply point out the damage, and we would definitely make things right. The base was original, and the shade was not, this was clearly stated, the only damage I was aware of was a loose solder joint on this inner ring, but the glass was all good, and I find severe damage a rather extreme term. I posted 7 images of this lamp, including the shade & the base, I just looked again, making sure I did not miss anything, but I fail to see any severe damage. Fred: Shipping is the only issue I have with my clients, and as I have explained in detail on our website, terms of sale & Live Auctioneers boilerplate, we do not recommend a "preferred" shipper, so yes, do be careful with shipping, I totally agree with that. We recommend you contact multiple shippers, get multiple quotes, and then pick the shipper who gives you the best quote, or gives you the best customer service experience. While I totally understand you are upset with the shipping prices, remember you are in total control, we have multiple UPS stores listed, a Kinko, a general shipping outlet, plus another dozen other outfits that handle shipping. We dropped the prints of at the UPS store only at your request, I assumed you had gotten a quote and were good to go. I agree that the price you had to pay seems high, but in keep in mind you could have just contacted me and requested a different shipper, I would have been more than happy to retrieve your 6 prints and take them to whomever you prefer, we do not pressure anyone in picking just one shipper. That said I'm glad you were satisfied with the auction part of the process, and that you liked the prints. If I get more prints by the artist I will let you know, but I will also remind you to get quotes from multiple shippers, and even before the sale, so you know exactly what your cost will be. This is the first time I heard about this issue and I do apologize, I was not aware that the squirrel had been restored, I did mention that the squirrel had a broken ear, and I posted several images. https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/127360042_english-squirrel-decorated-planter-majolica-squirrel-is-missing-tip-of-ear-height-is-75 We are a small auction house and I'm the one taking the images, I go over items as carefully as possible, and always mention issues, but with 3000 images to shoot in a 3 week window, I can only spend so much time on an item. Most clients that are quite knowledgeable on certain items and call me with a request to take the item out, inspect it further, and send high resolution images, I am always accommodating those requests. Honestly I expected the squirrel to sell for a few hundred, and listing the broken ear seemed sufficient, I did not look further with ultra violet, for that I apologize. kind regards. Theo, HVA
