Jasper52 is the best auction house I've dealt with. Especially regarding payment and shipping-they make it effortless. My only issue in the past is probably related to my own ignorance, and it stems from purchasing photographs-apparently they were new prints of old photographs, and I didn't realize this. Again, this is likely my own ignorance, but I feel there needs to be a classification of sorts that is more clear during the purchase of photographs to help those of us who don't know any better. It's a learning process.

Some of the people you represent tell us there is a reserve but do not tell us the reserve. They essentially treat us like fools who have to be psychologically manipulated to their advantage. I have no time for this and no longer participate in such auctions. This practice should be discountinued and the reserve or else give a highre starting price so that we waste less time.

Auction House (Jasper52) needs to convince sellers to have MORE REALISTIC Reserves and especially Shipping Prices. Nothing like being charged $225 to ship something that you KNOW from experience will only cost $40-$50 to ship. If sellers can't make money on the auction price, please don't have them try to make it up on the shipping!

excellent wish i had started earlier

item was misdescribed... they wanted me to send them pictures but they had already taken pics.. the problem is crazing.. on old pottery this sometimes occurs over time... its hard to show in pics because of the angles.... that being said the value of the item goes down when this condition is present.. most of the pottery that i purchase online would have this in their description

Payment with Pay Pal can be difficult. It may be the website configuration, but eventually I get it through. Otherwise a positive experience.

We paid for the rugs. apparently they were shipped via UPS and UPS lost them. We've followed up multiple times but have not gotten any answers or rugs but are out $1, 545.00. We've gotten no info from the sender. We will be putting in a dispute claim through Visa soon if we don't receive the rugs. We won't be buying any more until this is resolved.

Online bidder, UK resident. I collect Japanese woodblock prints; have bid & purchased half a dozen over the last twelve months at Jasper52. On the whole very satisfied, though in one instance, an okubi-e, a portrait print, the description of the condition of the print was inaccurate/deficient; looked to me that the print had a horizontal centrefold that had been reinforced at some with tape, on the back, which had been missed. Must commend a the auction house for its positive response; apologised for the error and revised the description of the print to include this fault. I decided not to bid; the lot was passed.

Send invoices in timely fashion, and certainly do so before declaring that you are in dispute over payment.

My suggestion on photographing items is to aim towards creating natural light indoors with appropriate lighting. In my experience, that provides the most accurate reproduction of true color. Also, photographing at the highest possible resolution produces the best image.

The quality of the photograph was well below my expectation. It looks like a laser copy of a real photograph glued to a piece of paper. Very disappointing.

Reserves are frequently set way too high, which may be necessary to populate the auction, but makes bidding an exercise in futility, as is evidenced by the high percentage of items that don't sell. Also, shipping charges set by the consignors are often totally unrealistic, which further deters bidders. Some consignors are obviously using them as a premium. Many descriptions furnished by the consignors are inadequate. All in all, you have a nice concept and I hope you keep it going. There are always wrinkles in a new endeavor. They just need to be worked out.
