
Model 1843 Hall Carbine by Simeon North
Mexican American War
.52 caliber smoothbore. 21" barrel. NSN. Browned finish, color casehardened breech block and hammer, iron furniture, walnut stock secured by two flat, pinned barrel bands. Single shot percussion breechloading carbine with side lever to operate breech, fixed notch rear sight, fixed front sight blade, 8.5" sling bar and ring and an old replacement button head cleaning and clearing rod. No markings present on the top of the breech block, weak traces of cartouches on the rear edges of the stock flats. {ANTIQUE}

Condition
Fair. Bore heavily oxidized with some pitting. Metal with no finish remaining and moderately oxidized with a mottled brownish gray patina. Metal aggressively cleaned long ago and toning down. No markings left on the breech block. Markings in wood very weak. Mechanically functional action. Wood heavily worn. Wrist completely broken through and only held in place by the trigger plate, which is missing one of its three screws. Other cracks present in the wood at the rear of the action. Wood with numerous bumps, dings, mars and marks.
