Description

(1758 - 1831) Fifth President of the United States who negotiated the Louisiana Purchase and promulgated the Monroe Doctrine. Partly-printed D.S. as President, 1p. oblong folio parchment, Washington, Jan. 3, 1818, a land grant issued to a private in Jones’s Artillery, Edward Cole. Boldly signed at conclusion and co-signed by JOSIAH MEIGS (1757-1822), scholar and first acting President of the University of Georgia, also the Commissioner of the General Land Office. Blind-embossed paper seal intact, toned folds and light foxing, very good.
