Description
(1797 - 1888) King of Prussia and German Emperor, an authoritarian ruler who led the German armies in the Franco-Prussian War and supported Bismarck in his efforts to strengthen Prussian control of Germany. Manuscript D.S., 3pp. legal folio, Berlin, Apr. 13, 1876, in German. Not translated but clearly referencing or itself the promotion of a member of the Bronsart von Schellendorff family to the rank of Major and 'Flugel Adjutant'. Some edge wear and light soiling, else very good. The recipient's family included Fritz Bronsart von Schellendorf, a Prussian general officer who served during World War I as the Chief of General Staff for the Ottoman Empire's armed forces. He was also considered by many to be the chief instigator of the Armenian Genocide of 1915.
