A helmet for officers of the Schlossgarde Company, Berlin, circa 1914The elegant helmet made of vulcanised fibre lacquered in black (craquelures), complete with all silver-plated fittings. Large screw-mounted guard eagle emblem with the convex, silver-plated star of the Order of the Black Eagle, the centre with fine enamelling. The cross base with four gold star-shaped screws and a particularly tall, smooth spike, silver chinscales with leather underlay on geometric rosettes, both cockades. Ochre-coloured leather sweatband and matching coloured pale silk lining, size 59. Marginally damaged in places, signs of age and wear. Uncleaned, in good, untouched original condition.
