Description
(1880 - 1971) German field marshal and ardent Hitler supporter, led the 14th Army in Poland, the 12th Army in the Balkans, and as field marshal commanded Army Group A on the Russian front. Sentiment and signature penned on a small card, adding date Jan. 25, 1959. A newspaper clipping affixed at left announces that the Greek Minister of Justice has halted the persecution of German war criminals on Jan. 1, 1959, conditional upon ‘…the Federal Government giving assurances that the prosecution of such war criminals will be taken over by the German judiciary…’. Blue pencil notation just brushes the ‘W’ in List’s signature, else very good.
