(1814 - 1864) Union brigadier general who led a regiment in the Peninsula, Fredericksburg. and Gettysburg. Killed in action at Chaffin's Farm. War-date manuscript D.S., 1p. oblong folio, ‘Camp in the field', June 30, 1862, an ‘Abstract of Articles Received from Officers', including corn, forage, pens, stationery, and so on. Signed as approved by Burnham as Colonel of the 6th Maine Volunteers at lower left. Shows folds with very small splits at the junctures, otherwise in fine condition overall.
