Description
(1826 - 1901) Confederate brigadier general, participated in the Battle of Shiloh and led his brigade in the battles of Perryville, Chickamauga, and Murfreesboro. He was wounded severely during the Chattanooga Campaign. In 1864, Maney commanded a division in Hardee's corps during the Atlanta Campaign. He was captured in August and later released. Scarce, bold signature ‘Geo Maney’ in black ink on the verso of an unrelated 4 x 2.25 in. calling card, adding ‘C S Army’ and ‘Nashville Tenn. Shows some brushing to the ink in the signature and inscription, with mounting remnants to the verso, still in very good to fine condition overall.
