T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. 4to., New York, Dec. 2, 1938 to William Cavalier, a California investor and philanthropist. In part: '...I have your letter...about the Investment Bankers' Jury of Awards. I have so many small irons in the fire now I think I had better keep out of this until I get some things cleaned up...' Fine. At the time, Hoover was still on the political attack after F.D.R., seeking revenge for his perceived bad treatment and defeat at the polls years earlier.
