A hand-held grinding stone, or mano, shaped from a pale tan sedimentary stone with a consistent, gritty texture. Rectangular in form with softly rounded edges. This tool represents the essential domestic life of early agrarian societies, used to process pigments, or medicinal herbs. The stone’s surface is much more polished on one side from moderate use.
