Description

A formidable percussion tool of irregular, oblong form, crafted from a hard-stone. This tool was likely the "workhorse" of a prehistoric toolkit, used for the heavy reduction of larger stone cores or the crushing of mineral tempering for pottery. There is a visible banding around one end where it would have been lashed to a handle. Previous private collection, San Francisco.
