(1914 – 1944) Luftwaffe ace credited with 55 kills, eleven victories on the Eastern Front and 44 over the Western Allies, including 23 four-engine bombers. Awarded a Knights Cross, he was killed in a clash with P-51s escorting a bomber mission over western Germany. Rare war-date typed D.S., 1p. 4to., [n.p.], Apr. 24, 1943, his attestation that: '...I am of German or related ancestry...[not] Jewish or belonging to the Jewish religion...I have not belonged to any Masonic lodge...or lodge-like organization...no decisions or investigations in matters of honor, professional conduct or divorce...I have not belonged to any communist, Marxist, pacifist [organization]...'
