World War Two U.S. Navy VB-144 squadron patch. The patch is schiffli embroidery on twill. Measures 5.25" in diameter. Established as Bombing Squadron One Hundred Forty Four (VB-144) on July 1, 1943. Redesignated Patrol Bombing Squadron One Hundred Forty Four VBP-144 on October 1, 1944.The insignia was approved by the Office of Chief of Naval Operations - CNO on April 10 1945. VB-144 flew the Lockheed PV-1 Ventura. During WW2, the squadron served in Fleet Airwing (FAW) 2 and during the course of their service operated out of land bases at Tarawa / Roi and Eniwitok. Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
