World War Two Bombing Squadron 80 (VB-80) squadron patch. Schiffli embroidery on twill with a cheesecloth back. Established as Bombing Squadron Eighty (VB-80) on February 1, 1944 at Naval Air Station NAS at Wildwood, NJ. The Insignia was approved by Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, CNO on August 8, 1944. During WW2, the squadron primarily flew the SB2C-4 Helldiver and was deployed on the USS Ticonderoga and USS Hancock. Their campaigns included; Philippines and Manila Bay, Formosa, French Indochina, Iwo Jima and Tokyo Raids. Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
