World War Two U.S. Navy Torpedo Squadron Twenty (VT-20) squadron patch. The patch is schiffli embroidery on wool. The insignia approved by the Office of Chief of Naval Operations - CNO on March 21,1944. Measures 5" x 5.5". The squadron was established on October 15, 1943 and was equipped with the Grumman TBM 1-C Avenger.They were deployed on the USS Enterprise and the USS Lexington. They participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf where they contributed to the sinking of the Japanese super Battleship Musashi, the Battle off Cape Engano and also conducted missions against Japanese troop convoys in Ormoc Bay and enemy positions across the Philippines. VT-20 received a Presidential Unit Citation for "extraordinary heroism" while operating from the USS Lexington during strikes against Japanese forces in Luzon, Formosa, the China Sea, and the Ryukyus between late 1944 and early 1945.
