World War Two U.S. Navy VT-14 squadron patch. The patch is painted on leather. Measures 5.5" in diameter. . Established as Torpedo Squadron Fourteen VT-14 on September 1, 1943. The insignia was submitted to the Office of Chief of Naval Operations - CNO but was not approved VT-14 was deployed on the USS Wasp and flew the Grumman TBF-1C Avenger. Participated in the Battle of the Philippine Gulf and the Battle of Leyte. The patch is signed Andy Sprague at the bottom. The artist " Andy Sprague" was a professional cartoonist who worked on the comic strip " Smilin Jack" with Zack Mosley. It was an aviation themed comic strip from the 30's and 40's. Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
