World War Two Bombing Squadron One Hundred Nine (VB-109) squadron patch. The squadron was established as Bombing Squadron One Hundred Nine (VB-109) on August 2, 1943 and was redesignated Patrol Bombing Squadron 109 (VPB-109) on October 1, 1944. The patch is schiffli embroidery on twill. There is no known approval for this insignia. Measures 4.125" in diameter excluding the bomb tip. During WW2, the squadron served in Fleet Airwing (FAW) 1, 2, and 10 and during the course of their service operated out of many land bases including; Kaneohe, Hawaii, Apamama, Kwajalein, Eniwetok, Saipan, Palawan, Okinawa, Iwo Jima, and Tinian. Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
