(1815 - 1873) Confederate lieutenant general who led his corps at Shiloh and Atlanta, and attempted to halt Sherman's March to the Sea. A.L.S. on the letterhead of the Selma and Meridian Rail Road, 1p. 8vo., Demopolis, Aug. 11, 1866. In part: '...I propose to leave here for St. Louis next Wednesday. I hear you are going about the same time. Confer with Woolsey and let us all go together...' Double matted with an Anthony carte de visite of Hardee in uniform and an early Confederate flag pin, all set into a black frame with gold trim. Fine.
